Biography

Oliver Westermeier

Born in Munich, Germany, from an early age Oliver Westermeier
was exposed to printmaking, painting and furniture making in his grandfather’s old-world workshop. He was encouraged to explore and create and
developed a life-long appreciation for art and design.

After formal studies and success in illustration and fine art in Germany,
Oliver moved to New York City in his early twenties where he
eventually combined his love for art and design and opened his own company focusing on restoration and conservation of furniture and objects.  

Working with New York’s most prestigious art galleries, design firms,
architects, and contemporary artists, and exposure to exquisite art, furniture, and decorative objects from all periods in history inspires Oliver’s own
unique designs where he employs the traditional techniques he’s learned including lacquering, gold leafing, French polishing, as well as unconventional finishes, to his limited edition furniture.

Neuland Design is founded by Oliver Westermeier to bring his modern
design techniques in art to contemporary furniture.

Oliver is the drummer for the New York City punk rock band, Fetzig.
